(Documentary, United States) Walking past Jacquetta Thomas’ lifeless, brutally beaten body in September of 1991 changed Greg Taylor’s life, and North Carolina’s criminal justice system, forever. For seventeen years, Greg and his family fought to undo his wrongful conviction. It would take the creation of a unique, independent state agency – one vested with all the powers needed to determine innocence – and the revelation the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation misrepresented the truth in their scientific reporting, to set Taylor free.

RATING: Intended for mature audiences (adult themes and conversations about violent crime)

Director: Gregg Jamback

Gregg Jamback, a video professional for over 30 years, has worked on projects ranging from corporate and nonprofit communications videos to broadcast programs for Discovery, National Geographic, Disney, & more. He has also produced and directed four independent projects:

Greg Taylor – GHOST – a 30-minute documentary short focused specifically on how Greg spent his time in prison and on his lost relationship with his daughter. This piece is gleaned from three prison interviews we shot with Taylor prior to his hearing – the majority of emotional footage is not included in the current feature film “In Pursuit of Justice.” This precursor to our feature length film project screened in seven film festivals, winning awards at three of them including “Best of Fest” and Best Documentary.

Peelers, Busters, and Soft Shell Crabs – a southern cultural short, aired repeatedly on UNC-TV.

The Real Cost of Coal – a doc short highlighting “The Keeper of the Mountains,” activist Larry Wheeler, whose family’s mountaintop home is surrounded by the scars of this type of coal removal. Multiple screenings locally in cooperation with arts, activist, & environmental groups.

The Little America’s Cup – an in-depth look at C-Class Catamaran racing, involving sailboats that revolutionized sailing. Shown within the sailing community.
