In The Mother, a young woman visits a farmer’s market and finds a lot more than she bargained for in a chance encounter with a local kombucha brewer.
Written and directed by Hope Olaidé Wilson, The Mother is a chapter within Owls & Echoes, an award-winning bite-sized anthology of stand-alone short films exploring everyday scenarios and moral dilemmas with a darkly comic twist.
Hope Olaidé Wilson is a filmmaker, performer and multimedia producer. She is the founder of Indigo Veil Media and a ‘Made in NY’ Media Center Incubator Fellowship recipient. Hope wrote, directed and produced Owls & Echoes, an anthology comprised of multiple short films/vignettes selected for the IFP Screen Forward Episodic Lab. She was awarded the inaugural Jack Jones Literary Arts ‘Octavia Butler Fellowship’ and a finalist for the Stowe Story Labs/Tangerine Entertainment Screenwriting Fellowship.
Trained at the London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art, her screen credits include Spenser Confidential (NETFLIX/Film 44), Solace (Tribeca Film Institute All Access Program), The Affair (Showtime), The Price (Samuel Goldwyn Films/2017 SXSW), I Can Do Bad All By Myself (Lionsgate), The Fosters (FreeForm), and The Last Ship (TNT).
